Jackson Records announced the release of a semi-classical and fusion based music album ‘Dhwani’ on the auspicious day of Diwali. The company started the project back in June 2014 with a vision to educate a group of underprivileged children by accumulating funds after the album sells out. Later in July 2014, Jackson Records partnered with Shri Kunj Studios based in New Delhi to fulfil the musical project. Laureate Journal Literature Fraternity, an organization working in the literary sector took up the charge for carrying out the educational process of the underprivileged, with the funds donated as a result of the project – Dhwani.

Focusing especially on devotional songs, the music in the album has been directed by Shri Amit Kumar, an Indian Classical Vocalist and Composer, known for his Khayal and Bhajan renditions. However, the album stands out because of the modern approach in the musical arrangements. Consisting of four melodious tracks, Dhwani, as an album is a journey reflecting the ethnicity of the Indian music and the Western beautifications which unites the feeling of eternity with hearing pleasure. The songs have been performed by Amit Kumar, Anshoo Walia, Richa Kumar and other artists from New Delhi.

Jackson Records has always discovered new artists and fresh flavors of music in India. Credited for making independent Indian music and radio drama available at a global scale on digital platforms, Jackson Records repeats its work in a classic project, this time with Dhwani. Apart from the musical entertainment factor, the album also identifies the budding talents of the industry. Dhwani as a concept also proves that new music has a lot of potential in it, debunking that the new generation doesn’t take interest in classical forms of music. All three prominent artists in the album along with the other young artists who performed as a choir in one the numbers of the album, are talented with a lot of scope for growth in Indian Classical and Contemporary music scene. Music composer and performer Amit Kumar, who is also the mentor at the Shri Kunj Studios, has musically modulated the traditional styles of semi classical music like Bhajan / Devotional genre into something more appealing to the modern crowd yet being consistent with the beauty and flavor of the original raga, on which the songs are based.

“Who says, the young generation doesn’t listen to bhajans or classical? If they didn’t, they wouldn’t have performed in this album in the first place. Music is often a state of mind which is directed by choices we make. We cannot say that every other person will like the album, but honestly speaking, many definitely will. I did. Music has no boundaries. So we cannot limit music. Let it flow with emotions and true flavors of the heart. You cannot connect to a piece of harmony by judging it prematurely by its combination of genres, without actually taking a listen”, says founder of Jackson Records Media & Strategics, Utsav Bhanja.

With the release of Dhwani, there are expectations for this album to perform well both in the physical and digital domains, thereby helping accumulation of more funds for supporting the social cause, which happens to be the primary aim of this musical project. “We chose a music album over direct crowdfunding for the social cause, because we wanted music to earn for the social good. I gives us immense pleasure and a sense of satisfaction, that our music is contributing to a very small part for the future of the nation”, added Utsav Bhanja of Jackson Records.

Dhwani will soon be available to the world through the digital platforms, online stores and retail outlets.
